WHEN AND HOW TO INTRODUCE DATES POWDER TO BABIES
Dates Powder can be introduced from 10 months of age. It is very versatile and can be added to a variety of recipes like porridge, kheer, sweet purees, shakes, smoothies, custards, ice creams etc. It can also be used to sweeten milk , cookies, cakes and laddus.
1. KHEER RECIPE WITH DATES POWDER
This recipe serves 4 adults easily.
List of Ingredients –
– Milk 750ml (3 cups)
– Rice 40 gms (1/3 cup)
– Almonds 7-8 nos
– Cashews 7-8 nos
– Raisins 25-30 nos
– Coconut Powder 2 spoons
– Dates Powder 50 gms (1/3 Cup)
– Cardamom Powder pinch (1/2 tsp)
Steps To Make Kheer With Dates Powder:
– Soak rice in water and keep aside for 15 minutes
– Take Milk in a pot and bring to boil
– In the meantime, cut almonds and cashews in tiny pieces. The size depends upon the age of your kid. You can also make a course powder if the child is less than 12 months of age.
– Once the milk comes to boil, turn the gas to sim. Add rice and Raisins and leave for 15 minutes on sim.
– When the rice are around 60% done, add cashews and almonds. The rice should break at this point instead of getting mashed when pressed with finger.
– Leave the milk to boil further for 15 minutes on sim.
– When the rice are fully cooked, add cardamom powder, coconut powder and dates powder. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and keep heating for couple of minutes more.
– The consistency is now thick enough. Serve hot or refrigerate to enjoy cold. This kheer tastes awesome in both versions.
